The quality of the plastic and connectors is excellent. We’ve built and rebuilt the same set many times, and it still feels brand new.

Priya Nanda, San Jose, CA

We gave an Engino STEM kit as a birthday gift — it completely outshined the other toys! It keeps our son engaged for hours while teaching him valuable skills.

Ali Khan, Toronto, ON

The instructions are super clear and visual. My 8-year-old was able to build models all by himself within minutes. Great confidence booster!

Sarah Thompson, Chicago, IL

We tried several robotics kits before this, but Engino stands out. It’s not just plug-and-play — kids actually learn how the parts work.

I actually got this set for my 5 and 7 year old daughters. The love legos and building things so I thought this would be fun for them. While the instructions say is for 8 years +, my kids dug right in working together with a little help from dad. They had a blast and it was a nice learning experience for them and family time as well.

The pieces are well made and easy to snap together. I come with a nice storage container with a handle. It's always a plus when thing with small pieces comes with the container to keep it tidy and from getting lost. The booklet comes with instructions to build 2 different models and then there is an app to download that you can access the other things you can build. We haven't used the app yet so I can't comment on how that works, but I actually think it's a nice feature since we tend to loose instruction books quickly. My girls have built the two things in the booklet and then just used their imaginations to make other things.

Our granddaughter wanted to try her hand at some kind of building toy. Before investing in Legos, I decided to give this set a try. She has really enjoyed it with a little help from her 10 year old brother. It has a great plastic box with clasps and handles to hold all of the pieces. Only complaint is that one piece (circle with attaching arm on side was missing some sort of connecting piece.)

Hi
This review is not for the specific product, as it is a present and has not been opened yet. However, we have stopped the counting of how many Engino kits we have already purchased.

They are simply the best that I have seen so far.

Engino - Creative Engineering Maker Girl 20 Models Set | STEM Activities and Experiments | for Ages 8 + | Perfect for Home Learning

Our 7 year old daughter is doing virtual school this year. Daddy is in charge of STEM, and has been finding clever building kits for the two of them since September. This latest is brilliant and quite possibly the best app-with-kit setup we've ever seen.

The pieces are somewhere between Kinex and Lego. This set is plastic in pinks and purples, which appealed to our daughter (whose current favorite color happens to be purple). The pieces are sturdy and have a decent heft to them (like real Lego sets), which is good because like with real Lego, you have to push them into place a bit to get them to click.

The set comes with very minimal instructions inside the box. They were confused at first, because the packaging and promotional materials talk about the 20 models you can build, but the instructions didn't seem to cover nearly that many. Then my husband found mention of the app. He downloaded it and HOLY COW - there are even more than 20 options and the app is BRILLIANT. Seriously.

It offers a 3D, 360 degree, maneuverable, manipulatable visual that makes it abundantly clear how things are supposed to fit together. It obviates the need for the trial and error that seems part and parcel of so many building kits for kids, in which the translation of 2D pictures into 3D builds inevitably results in some confusion and mistakes. Our daughter had almost no trouble figuring out which pieces to use at any given time. The only issue she had was when the same pieces were in different colors - the app colors are not a perfect match to the physical pieces, and since much of it is shades of pink and purple, there were a few moments where she wasn't sure which color to use to maintain the design. She figured it out, and declared it her favorite of their building projects.

She made a scooter that her dolls can actually use). The pieces come apart about as easily as Lego (which is to say, some well and some requiring an adult or screwdriver/pry bar), so she can take it apart when she's tired of playing with it and build something new. And with the app as easy to use as it proved to be, she can most likely do that on her own now that she's familiar with the pieces and their assembly.

Success!!

FAQs

What is the appropriate age to play with ENGINO?

The ENGINO system has been tested with children with the association of teachers and the department of Education of the University of Cyprus. It has been found that small models can be built even by 5 years old children. Bigger and complex models are more suited to 8-12 year olds, and our robotics and mega sets are targeting both youngsters and grown-ups as being more hobby items.

What if I lose some parts or manuals? Can I get replacements?

You can buy parts, instructions and books at a very low price from our online shop.

How is the quantity of parts compared to value for money?

Usually construction toys refer to the number of parts contained in a set as an indication of the set's building value. With ENGINO system this reference does not actually apply because the system is unique and the design of the parts allows multiple connectivity in all directions at the same time. As a result, there is no need for intermediate connectors between rods while ENGINO rods are also connectors! The ENGINO system can be described as a combination of the brick system and the spatial "connectors and rod" system. As of that, with ENGINO to build a model you only need around half the parts that you would require with any other conventional system! Furthermore, as ENGINO parts are bigger, the model is also bigger and more manageable. Parts are not easily lost and sets can combine together to create an infinite number of builds. Because the "number of parts" is actually misleading, we have introduced a new term called "connecting points" that indicates how many connections are possible with the particular parts contained in each set.
